We are going to assemble here 100 “Great” Pictures.
Not Great Pictures of the past but “Great” Pictures
of the Present.
Do you have what you think of as a “Great” Picture,
maybe a number of Great Pictures then send them in for consideration.
(Click Submissions for details
of how to submit pictures for consideration for inclusion in
this exclusive Gallery.)
Great pictures very often do not get published, sometimes
simply because they are not commercial. Occasionally a Magazine
might publish a series which they consider as “Great
Pictures” usually with a theme, but here we simply want
to show “Great Pictures” for no other reason than
that they are “Great”
What makes a “Great” Picture is something more
than being just properly exposed, of being sharp, of being
properly composed, these attributes are relative to what one
is trying to say, the subject matter carries the message. The
message is the purpose of the picture. How well this is put
across is something of what makes the picture great
But you need to be Visually literate to both see and produce
the picture.
(See the Essential
Photographic Magazines list, essential
reading along with many of the books from The
List (Books), if you are to develop a true
Visual Literacy.)
But if you are a Photographer, if you have that Visual
Literacy, if you think your picture is great,
it probably is! Send it in.
