You may as well have a piece of sandpaper as a map of the Sahara.
Roads here are sketchy at best.  Apart from three recognised north-south caravan routes, which are marked with stakes and oil drums, the last tyres to cross the sands are the only sign of a track.  And if you get it wrong, you may have 3,500,000 square miles, the size of Britain, France and Germany together, from which to find a way out.  The word “Sahara” comes from the Arabic, meaning “wilderness”.

Photojournalism

For comment and attitude see On Photojournalism
We show here Photojournalism by Photographers who picture the truth and the reality and the spiritual element with objectivity and understanding, photographers both cultured and disciplined, reflecting these attitudes within their work.
The first body of work I show here is by Jamie Ball.
The style of work is mainly that of single pictures each telling a story, the essence of picture taking. The old adage “a picture is worth a thousand words” is borne of pictures such as these.
The emphasis here is pictures “telling” rather than pictures “illustrating” a story, a subtle but very important difference in ones approach to photography, all of which is journalistic in nature, see on Photojournalism
